Is this coming to your region next? Recreational fishing banned in Washington state through at least 5 p.m. April 8 because of the Coronavirus (COVID 19), says the Washington state Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The state will re-evaluate the situation on April 6 to see if the order should be extended.
The announcement follows Washington Governor Jay Inslee’s order on Monday evening directing state residents to stay home to limit the spread of COVID-19.
“We’ve had reports of crowded boat ramps and busy fishing on some rivers, which runs counter to the governor’s direction to stay home and practice social distancing,” said Kelly Cunningham, the Fish and Wildlife fish program director.
Fishery managers have reported that some anglers have been seen crowding banks as concerns over coronavirus have continued.
In addition, state workers must conduct on-site interviews to comply with Endangered Species Act requirements for salmon and steelhead monitoring.
The interviews put people at potential risk of transmitting coronavirus.
State Fish and Wildlife and other state agencies have already closed boat launches and other public lands where people may gather.
State enforcement officers will be enforcing those closures and the ban on fishing.
With fishing banned in Washington State, do you fear its coming to your region? What do you think of banning fishing to stop the spread of the virus? Does it work? Whether it works or not, is it an overreach?

If you needed any further evidence that we are being led by useless idiots in this disaster, look no further than this mandate. Not only is it April and they still aren’t testing for Asymptomatic virus carriers, they go and remove one of the best forms of self isolation since the beginning of time. In short, they want a denser population so the virus will be more likely to kill you. Good day.
