The Nassau County Sheriff’s office responded at 5am yesterday to a call that a boat had struck the rocks at the Fort Cinch Jetty near Fernandina Beach. When they arrived on scene they found a 62′ sportfish (the 62′ Viking Foolish Pleasure) stuck on the rocks with a 6ft gash in the hull.

The 62′ sportfish is the Viking Foolish Pleasure, an enclosed bridge convertible Viking. This 2014 Viking was recently for sale, priced at just under $3 million.

From the listing at Bradford Marine…

Foolish Pleasure” is a great opportunity to own a like new 62 Viking enclosed bridge. She was custom built for her knowledgeable owner that has owned many Vikings. Totally equipped for the most serious fisherman and appointed with all the amenities for the most comfortable cruising. Only lightly cruised and always Captain maintained to the highest standards. Immaculate condition.

Looks like they’ll need to update that description a bit!

Thank you to the NCSO Marine Unit for getting the crew and passengers to safety.

We’ll update this story as more details come available.

  1. I knew the previous Captian who Captained this beautiful vessel for years. He was the most professional captain I ever meet. Accidents do happen but it’s my understanding this vessel was coming through the channel over 20 knots. Wrong, wrong for the person at the wheel.
